Highlights
- Return train tickets included in the price
- The Hải Vân pass by rail, the finest stretch of railway in Vietnam
- 4-star beachfront hotel with a pool
- A full day at Ba Na Hills
“Three days, four nights” sounds odd until you see the arithmetic: two of the four nights are spent on the train, so they cost you no hotel room. You board in the evening, sleep, and wake up already in Da Nang — no travelling day lost, no room paid for that night. It is the familiar choice for travellers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City who want to keep the cost down and still get three full days.
The price includes return rail tickets in an air-conditioned soft seat and a 4-star beachfront hotel with a pool.
Since 1 July 2025, Quảng Nam province has been merged into the city of Đà Nẵng. Hoi An, the Cham Islands and My Son are all part of Đà Nẵng now.
Is the berth upgrade worth it
If you sleep badly, do not economise on the 4-berth cabin. The 6-berth is noticeably tighter and noisier. The difference is under a million đồng for both directions, and it buys you the energy to start on day one.
Take a lower bunk if you are travelling with older relatives. The upper bunk means climbing, and getting down at night is awkward.
Supplements vary by bunk level and by how early you book.
On the train
Do not sleep through the Hải Vân pass. Coming south from Hanoi the train crosses it around 10:00–11:00. This is the finest stretch of railway in Vietnam.
Bring an adapter and a long charging cable. Sockets are usually at the end of the carriage or under the table, and not every berth can reach one.
Breakfast on the train is poor. Buy snacks before you board, or wait and have mì Quảng near Da Nang station — several places open early.
Book rail tickets well ahead. In summer and around public holidays the 4-berth sleepers sell out more than a month in advance.
