Highlights
- A full day at Ba Na Hills and the Golden Bridge
- Han River cruise
- Day three: the Cham Islands or Hue
- Day four with no fixed schedule — Mỹ Khê beach and the markets
Four days is the sweet spot for a Da Nang trip. The first three cover everything you came for; the fourth is for the beach and the markets — no early start, no coach. It is also the itinerary families with small children choose most often, because there is a rest day folded in between the travelling days.
Since 1 July 2025, Quảng Nam province has been merged into the city of Đà Nẵng. Hoi An, the Cham Islands and My Son are all part of Đà Nẵng now.
The order of stops may be rearranged to suit the weather; the number of stops stays the same.
Why day four is the one that earns its keep
Putting the Cham Islands on day three is deliberate. If the sea is rough that morning you still have day four to move things around — something the three-day itinerary cannot do.
Do not plan anything heavy for day four. After three days of moving, most guests want the beach. This is exactly where four days beats three.
Taking food home
Cồn market is cheaper than Hàn market. Hàn is close to the hotels and therefore convenient, but prices run 15–20% higher. Cồn is where people from Da Nang actually shop.
Buy the vacuum-packed chả bò. The banana-leaf version tastes better but keeps only a day or two, which does not suit a flight.
The best months are March to August. From September to December central Vietnam is in its rain and storm season, the sea is rough and Ba Na is often fogged in.
Schedule
- Day 1Pickup at the airport, railway station or bus station. Sơn Trà peninsula and Linh Ứng Pagoda. Lunch, then the Marble Mountains: the lift up Thuỷ Sơn, Huyền Không cave, the river-view terrace and the Non Nước stone carving village. Check into your beachfront hotel in the afternoon. In the evening, Hoi An Old Town — the Japanese Bridge, the old houses, the assembly halls, the night market, and one paper lantern included.
- Day 2Buffet breakfast, then the cable car up Ba Na Hills. The Golden Bridge, French Village, the Debay wine cellar, the Moon Castle and Le Jardin D'Amour gardens. Buffet lunch at the summit, free time in Fantasy Park in the afternoon. Down the mountain late in the day, then a swim. Han River cruise in the evening.
- Day 3 — option ACham Islands: speedboat from Cửa Đại pier, snorkelling over coral, the boat harbour, Hải Tạng Pagoda and Tân Hiệp market. Seafood lunch on Bãi Ông beach, free swimming in the afternoon, then back to the mainland.
- Day 3 — option BHue for the day, supplement quoted separately — ask when booking: through the Hải Vân tunnel, a stop at Lăng Cô bay, the Imperial City and the Forbidden Purple City, Khải Định tomb and Thiên Mụ Pagoda. Back in Đà Nẵng in the early evening.
- Day 4No fixed schedule. A late breakfast, then Mỹ Khê beach or Phạm Văn Đồng beach — both have public freshwater showers. Check out at midday, then Hàn market or Cồn market at your own pace. Transfer to the airport to suit your ticket.
