Hoi An Afternoon Tour from Da Nang — the Old Town by Lantern Light

The cheapest of the day tours, and the smartest — it leaves in the afternoon and reaches Hoi An exactly when the Old Town is at its best.

This tour is organised and operated by Đà Nẵng City. Món Ngon Miền Trung republishes the programme details; we are not a travel agency and do not take tour bookings.

Pickup: Hotel, home, airport or bus station in central Đà Nẵng, 14:00–14:15

Highlights

This is the cheapest tour in the Da Nang day-trip range, and the one with the smartest timing — because it leaves in the afternoon. You keep the whole morning for sleeping in or the beach, and you reach Hoi An exactly when the Old Town is at its best: after dark, when the electric lights go off and only the lanterns remain.

The three-star dinner alone is worth around 150,000₫ per person.

Since 1 July 2025, Quảng Nam province has been merged into the city of Đà Nẵng, so Hoi An is now part of Đà Nẵng.

Aim for the 14th of the lunar month if you can

On the 14th night of every lunar month the Old Town switches its electric lights off entirely. The whole quarter runs on lanterns and candles, and it is noticeably better than an ordinary evening. If your dates are flexible, target that night.

Practical notes

Skipping Sơn Trà means a later pickup, around 15:30. Tell the guide in advance if you have already been to the peninsula and would rather sleep in.

Comfortable walking shoes. The Old Town is closed to traffic, so everything is done on foot over stone paving.

Bring a light rain shell from September to December. Hoi An gets sharp evening showers and the riverside places have little cover.

Leave room after dinner. Corn sweet soup and bánh mì Phượng are both within walking distance of the meeting point.
