Highlights

My Son is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and also the most-skipped stop in the Da Nang tour range — because it sits more than 60km from the city, deep in a valley, with no beach and nothing to ride.

If you care about history, though, it is the one worth going to. This Cham tower complex was built continuously for nearly a thousand years, from the fourth century to the thirteenth, using a mortarless brick technique that still has no complete explanation.

This tour also has the clearest group discount in the range: ten people pay 30,000₫ less per head than two.

Since 1 July 2025, Quảng Nam province has been merged into the city of Đà Nẵng, so both My Son and Hoi An are now part of Đà Nẵng.

Why the early start matters

It is not about crowds. The My Son valley is exposed and there is almost no shade between the tower groups — after ten in the morning it becomes genuinely unpleasant. The Cham dance also runs to a fixed timetable; miss a performance and you wait for the next one.

Practical notes

Closed shoes, not sandals. From the shuttle car park into the towers you walk on dirt and loose gravel.

A wide-brimmed hat, water and sunscreen. All three matter more than a camera here.

Listen to the guide rather than wandering off. My Son has few interpretive signs, and without someone telling the story the tower groups look much alike.

The boat back to Hoi An is the reward at the end of the day. Sit out on the side of the boat — there is a breeze, and it beats the coach.

Schedule

  1. 07:00Hotel pickup in Đà Nẵng. Airport, railway station or bus station pickup by prior arrangement.
  2. 08:00Through Hoi An and on into the My Son valley.
  3. MorningThe tower complex. The groups are lettered A to H — B, C and D are the best preserved. Your guide explains Cham temple construction and the war damage still visible in the brickwork.
  4. 10:30Cham dance performance among the towers — the Apsara dance and the offering dance to Shiva.
  5. 11:30Lunch at a local restaurant.
  6. 12:15Leave My Son and board a boat down the Thu Bồn River to Hoi An. This stretch is the part most guests did not expect to enjoy most — villages on both banks, fishing boats and sandbars planted with corn.
  7. AfternoonThe coach meets you in Hoi An and returns you to Đà Nẵng.
